Jennifer Abril, Executive Director, Fragrance Materials Association (FMA) 

 As Executive Director of the Fragrance Materials Association of the United States (FMA), Jennifer is responsible for the daily administrative and operational management of the trade association, as well as the development, coordination and implementation of FMA’s policy objectives and membership outreach. She also manages the services provided to FMA by professionals at The Roberts Group, a trade association management firm based in Washington, DC. Prior to joining The Roberts Group, Ms. Abril was Director of ChemStewards® for the Synthetic
Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association (SOCMA) where she led the association’s development and implementation of ChemStewards®, SOCMA’s environmental, health, safety and security program. 
 

 

 

Lauren Heine, Senior Science Advisor, Clean Production Action

Dr. Lauren Heine applies green chemistry, green engineering and design for the environment for sustainable business practices and publishes on green chemistry metrics, alternatives assessment and multi-stakeholder processes. She co-authored the Green Screen for Safer Chemicals and currently serves on the California Green Ribbon Science Panel. She is co-chairing the tool development subcommittee for Wal-Mart’s Sustainable Value Network for Chemical Intensive Products. She co-founded the Oregon-based, Zero Waste Alliance and was a Fellow with the American Association for the Advancement of Science in the Green Chemistry Program.

   
Dr. Ladd Smith, President, Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM)

Ladd Smith is trained as a scientist and since 1998 has been president of the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials, Inc., an international organization, which evaluates the safety of fragrance ingredients.

Previously, he was responsible for product stewardship at Occidental Chemical. Prior positions at GE Plastics and Dupont involved health care cost containment, regulatory affairs and laboratory research.

During his career, he has assumed leadership roles on association boards and committees, has helped develop graduate and cooperative education programs and has published on subjects including health and environmental research, information management and risk assessment.
 
   

Joe Yost, Director, Strategic Issues Advocacy, Consumer Specialty Products Association
Joe has 31 years experience in business-government relations and environmental law. He has extensive experience as a lobbyist presenting testimony and producing written legal comments on proposed legislation and regulations. Joe joined CSPA in 1995 and currently serves as director of the Strategic Issues Advocacy Department. In this capacity, he is CSPA’s principal liaison with the senior staff of state government regulatory agencies.

Joe is a graduate of the University of Maryland (B.A. with High Honors in Government & Politics and M.A.in Government & Politics) and the University of Baltimore Law School (J.D.). He is admitted to the Maryland and the District of Columbia Bars.
