NEWS FROM FBHO

27th October 2008

BLACK HOUSING CONFERENCE

The umbrella body for black and minority ethnic-led housing associations has cancelled the staging of its 25
th annual conference in Birmingham.

The Federation of Black Housing Organisations (FBHO) Annual Conference and Exhibition was scheduled to be held in Birmingham on Friday 31st October to Saturday 1st November.

This cancellation has come about due to a lack of support from the membership; loss of sponsorship and other support from larger BME organisations, the demise of Ujima and other HAs and the sudden bereavement of the Executive Director’s immediate family member. The decision to cancel the event(s) was taken following recent consultation meetings with FBHO constituent members.

The FBHO intends, subject to members’ approval, to complete its organisational and capacity review in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, an update on the FBHO organisational capacity review and the Merger and Group Structures Research will be available shortly.

We apologise for the short notice and any inconvenience this cancellation may have caused.

For more information please contact Leslie Laniyan (Chair) on 020 8985 7120 or Jheni Williams (Executive Director) on 020 8533 7053.
