About the Course

This Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) course, led by David Hicks, Certified Scrum Trainer, covers everything you need to understand in order to perform as a ScrumMaster or Scrum Team member.

In addition, given the instructor's substantial experience and knowledge about the full range of Agile methods available, you will also benefit from the opportunity to gain a high level understanding of alternative and complementary Agile methods including Kanban, Lean, XP, DSDM and Agile Project Management and how they fit with Scrum. David Hicks will use his consulting experience, built over the last 17 years, to illustrate the topics covered.

 Course Suitability

This course is useful for anyone who wants to be successful using Scrum. As such, it will benefit anyone who is involved in a Scrum Project across the full range of Scrum roles. It has been found to be helpful both to those newly setting out on their Agile journey, as well as those who have gained previous experience but now want to consolidate their knowledge or address questions that have arisen based on their experience. In terms of roles, the course is suitable for Product and Project Managers, Product Owners, Functional / Departmental Managers, other Development Team Members (Architects, Designers, Coders, Testers, etc), and others involved in transitioning to Scrum within their organisation.

Your Course Instructor

Your course instructor is David Hicks. As a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer, you can read about David in more detail here. David has been doing Agile consulting, training and coaching in a whole range of different contexts for nearly 20 years, using the full range of Agile approaches including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP, DSDM, Agile Project Management and the Open/Agile Unified Process. He became a Founder Member of the Agile Alliance in 2002 and is a regular speaker on the Agile conference circuit. David holds a wide range of Agile qualifications including the following:
  • Certified Scrum Trainer
  • Certified Lean IT Trainer
  • Certified PMI Agile Certified Practitioner
  • Certified APMG Agile Project Management Trainer
  • Certified DSDM Agile Trainer
  • Certified Agile Leadership Practitioner
Today, in addition to having trained in excess of 1,000 Certified ScrumMasters (both via public and in-house training courses), a large part of his role is to provide Agile consulting and coaching services to clients large and small across a range of industry segments. This means that the training he delivers is based on extensive experience of Agile in the real world.
