A new-style conference for suppliers to learn about the new NHS 

If you are a supplier to the NHS the chances are you will be confused about the latest changes.  Your address book will be out of date, old contacts disappeared and new funding flows a mystery. This one day conference takes a different look at the conventional conference.


At 'Talking about the NHS' you won't be spoken at, sent to sleep with PowerPoint or go home thinking about the questions that are still unanswered.

 

At 'Talking about the NHS' you will be able to join-in, ask questions and probe the presenters.  There will be a 'diagnostic' dealing specifically with your business and your market sector, a workshop for you to compare notes with other suppliers and develop the 'Big Questions', just how do you access the NHS' front door.

 

The day will be led by former NHS Trust Chairman and health commentator Roy Lilley, editor of the hugely popular nhsManagers.net e-letter.  Formerly the chairman of the nation standing committee on supplies and purchasing, Roy is at the forefront of helping suppliers to understand the new NHS.

Alyson Brett is the Chief Executive of NHS Commercial Solutions one of the main players in NHS buying and procurement. The Hubs are gaining in influence and reach and are likely to play an even more central role in the new landscape. Most Trusts use hubs for the main-stay of their procurement strategy. 

 

Jon Wilks is the MD of ukHealthGateway; with a background in procurement and order fulfilment with a major supplier to primary care, Jon now specialises in market entry for device manufacturers and his clients include Roche, Mediracer, Orion Diagnostic, GemMed and Mirage Health Group.Jon will take you through developing the business case for successful selling to the NHS.

 

John Watts, Director of Procurement and eCommerce at Barts Health NHS Trust. John is one of the NHS' leaders in the field.  John will talk frankly about selling to hospitals and 'is it all about price'? Prior to joining Barts Health NHS Trust, John worked at Health Trust Europe (HTE) as Business Development Director, and before that at UCLH as Director of Procurement. He started life in the public sector with the London Transport Executive, Local Government and the Post Office before moving into the private sector for 18 years. There he worked for organisations including National Grid, MBNA, Alliance & Leicester Bank, primarily consulting in procurement or commercial roles, but with some time spent in sales and marketing.


Graham Atkinson, Director of Transformation and Commissioning at Soar Beyond Ltd, Lancaster.  Graham is a pharmacist with over 10 years experience as an NHS commissioner with a unique perspective and ability to work with clients seeking transformational change, collaborative working and market access in the new NHS. From 2011 to 2013 Graham worked for the NHS Commissioning Board as a transitional Director to support the introduction of the new NHS commissioning system in England. As a Director within the Soar Beyond team Graham works with a range of NHS and private sector partners, both commissioners and providers, to maximise transformational change opportunities, deliver improved quality and health outcomes and secure value for money using innovative and mutually beneficial approaches. Graham has an in-depth understanding of the new NHS commissioning system, including NHS England, CCGs, CSUs and HWBs, and can work with a wide range of clients with an appreciative perspective to facilitate collaborative working between partners seeking integration and greater efficiencies in NHS services.
