Asia Tin Week 2019
Asia Tin Week 2019 will be held in the ancient capital of China – Xi’an – on 3 - 5 September 2019 and will bring together industry experts, leading tin companies and other stakeholders to share their thoughts on the latest tin industry issues. More than 300 delegates from China and other countries will attend the event, which will be the seventh ITA event held in China. The week will combine the main Asia Tin Summit, the Tin Futures forum, a Responsible Tin Production seminar. International Tin Association China will also hold its 10-year anniversary celebration during Asia Tin Week, together with a series of business networking activities and social events. The meeting will provide delegates with rich insight, tin industry news and broad business opportunities.

Although the market was relatively positive during the first quarter of this year, Sino-US trade negotiations haven’t reached a conclusion and the world economic outlook remains uncertain. Added to this, tin supply continues to decline. Chinese mine production has been affected by the accident at the Yinman mine; Indonesian exports are capped at a lower level under new regulations; Myanmar tin mine production has begun to decline due to falling ore grades and stock depletion. However, because the market still lacks confidence due to weak demand and the uncertain economic landscape, the tin price continues to fluctuate in a narrow range.

In the long term, a few new mine projects will start in the next year, while there is some resource potential in the south of Myanmar and central Africa. At the same time, new ore sorting and smelting technology will improve the efficiency of production and reduce the operating costs of mines and smelters. On the other hand, responsible tin mining is becoming more influential in the market; the EU, LME and downstream users will implement stricter regulations for the responsible production of tin in next few years, which has the potential to significantly affect tin mining and trading worldwide. Meanwhile tin seems well-positioned to benefit from the upcoming technology revolution with strong growth potential in solder interconnections and new energy materials.

We look forward to welcoming you to the 2019 Asia Tin Week in Xi’an this September!
